When I was a kid cycling was my freedom, my transport and my lifeline that allowed me to explore the local area where I lived – whether that was cycling to the strawberry fields or playing cops and robbers. I was extremely sporty all the way through high school – however at that time there were no cycling clubs and I never really considered it as a competitive sport (certainly not for female). When I started at ENU, G suggested that we should have a trip to Glentress with the sports science team and that is where my love of mountain biking really started. Within a three-year period I managed to climb the ranks of XC racing and make it to world cup level. Although now retired I am still extremely active in the sport coaching a number of athletes across the disciplines of cross country, enduro and ultra-endurance.
